The Midtown Theater turned " Fine Arts "

Our class trip to Michigan ( Who were the chaperones ? )

The Phy. Ed. instructor, Tommy Thompson, showed the boys how to dry themselves after a shower with ONE PAPER TOWEL.
( postscript: Tommy Thompson is now in his eighties and is a member of the Southeast Area YMCA in Woodbury, MN. He spends his winters in Arizona where he still plays softball. They have honored him by naming a ball field after him.)

Great high school sports coverage in the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Dispatch - A favorite sports writer covering our events was Ralph Reeve (now deceased).

Fads:

pink and black everything; suede shoes; gathered skirts made with three yards of material; dual exhausts, glass packs; customized cars; duck tails; and the "Stroll".

swimming in Lake Johanna & Lake Josephine;

paddle boats in the summer and ice skating in the winter at Como Lake;

 Speed Skating competition on Como Lake during the Winter Carnival;

ice skating at Langford Park in St. Anthony Park

 hitting golf balls at the Harkins Driving Range at what is now Har Mar;

 attend movies at the Midtown theater;

 attend St Paul Saints baseball games at the Lexington Ball Park;

 roller skate at the coliseum next to the Lexington Ball Park;

attend University of Minnesota "outdoor" football games at Memorial Stadium;

 attend the Mn State High School Basketball Tournament at Williams Arena "The Barn" (one class);

attend the state hockey tournament at the St Paul Auditorium (one class);

watching American Band Stand on TV;

listening to 45 & 78 rpm records;

driving down University Ave. on a Friday night.
